Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly in the testing phase for a version of its iOS app optimized for Apple iPad. According to reports from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for iPad is currently undergoing testing and is accessible for installation via the TestFlight app. This opportunity is available to all beta testers who already utilize the beta app on their mobile devices.

Setting Up WhatsApp on iPad

To initiate WhatsApp on an iPad, individuals must have the beta iOS version of the app installed on both their iPhone and iPad. Subsequently, users should access WhatsApp settings on their iPhone, navigate to Linked devices, and select “Link a device” to scan the QR code using their iPad. Once the iPad is linked with the iPhone, users can independently utilize WhatsApp on their iPad without requiring an internet-connected phone. This autonomy is particularly convenient for individuals who prefer working on their tablets.

Enhanced Security and Functionality

Moreover, despite operating in companion mode, wherein messages and calls are still safeguarded by end-to-end encryption, users can rest assured about the security of their communications. However, as the companion mode remains in beta, certain features may exhibit limited functionality. For instance, users may encounter difficulties viewing and posting status updates, as well as experience limitations with live location functionality.

Future Updates and Availability

WhatsApp acknowledges these challenges and plans to address them through the implementation of bug fixes and enhancements in future updates of the app. Although the availability of the WhatsApp for iPad app on the App Store is yet to be announced, the ongoing testing phase suggests that users can anticipate its release in the near future.
