WhatsApp, a ubiquitous name in the realm of instant messaging, continues to dominate as the most widely used messaging app globally. Despite navigating through various controversies, WhatsApp remains committed to enhancing user experience by introducing new features to meet evolving demands. As 2021 witnessed a flurry of updates, the future promises to be equally dynamic with a slew of upcoming features set to revolutionize the WhatsApp experience.

Delete Message for Everyone

Among the upcoming features, the ability to delete messages for everyone and a new shortcut for quick replies stand out. Currently in development, the delete messages for everyone feature empowers group admins to delete incoming messages swiftly. When a group admin deletes a message, a notification reading “This was removed by an admin” will appear, offering enhanced moderation capabilities.

Quick Replies Shortcuts

Another notable addition is the introduction of quick replies shortcuts, primarily targeted at WhatsApp Business users on both iOS and Android platforms. This feature streamlines the process of responding to frequently sent messages by integrating quick reply options directly into the chat share action menu. Users will now have convenient access to select quick reply messages, enhancing efficiency and responsiveness within conversations.

Sticker Store

WhatsApp is also testing a sticker store feature for its desktop and web applications, enabling users to browse and select stickers seamlessly. Currently in beta phase, this feature is poised to enrich communication by offering a diverse range of expressive stickers to convey emotions and sentiments effectively.

Communities

With the communities feature, group admins gain enhanced control over multiple groups and sub-groups, streamlining moderation tasks and facilitating seamless communication across different groups. While still in the testing phase, this feature holds the potential to redefine group dynamics and administrative capabilities on WhatsApp.

Message Reactions

In line with platforms like Instagram and Facebook, WhatsApp is experimenting with message reactions, allowing users to express reactions using emojis. This feature, currently undergoing testing with six emoji reactions, promises to add a new dimension to message interactions by offering more nuanced responses.

Sticker Suggestions and Forwarding

WhatsApp is introducing sticker suggestions, where the sticker icon dynamically changes based on the user’s typed text, suggesting relevant stickers from downloaded packs. Additionally, users will soon have the ability to forward stickers without saving them, streamlining the process of sharing stickers without cluttering device storage.

As WhatsApp continues to evolve with these upcoming features, users can anticipate a more immersive, efficient, and engaging messaging experience, catering to diverse communication needs and preferences.
